Shop & SupportBelieve it or not, our swim dues do not cover the cost of operating our team. In previous years, Nu Wave has been able to host swim meets as a revenue raising activity to help bridge that gap. But Since Katrina, we have been severely limited in this activity. The Board is pleased to announce that we have approved the adoption of a new fundraising vehicle for our
club. It’s called “scrip”, and it’s the fundraising program that works while you shop.
We have 3 documents to help familiarize you with our new program. The documents are the Scrip Family User Guide, a Product List currently participating, and a Holiday Gift Guide with suggestions for how you might use our new program to help with your holiday shopping.
Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words, scrip is gift certificates from national and local retailers. They’re the same gift certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including JCPenney, The Gap, Shell, Pizza Hut, Red Lobster and many, many others.
Scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our organization at a discount. Member families like yours can buy the certificates for full face value, you redeem them for full face value, and our club keeps the difference as revenue. And scrip is exciting, because everybody wins:
• The retailer gets cash up front and repeat business…
• We get a powerful fundraising alternative that involves no selling….or Swimathon!!
• Our team gets a regular source of revenue which we need to fund our operating deficit.
The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our team without spending a single additional penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the scrip program! And scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline and even dining out.

After you are enrolled, you can place order for gift cards. Simply fill out the easy and secure online form.
After you complete your order, give us a check for the amount of your purchase (make the check payable to “Swim New Orleans”)
You can give your check to Jennifer Aguillard, Anne Hughs, or Lucy Riess; or put it through the mail slot at 1139 Arabella Street, New Orleans, LA 70115.
We will periodically consolidate the orders and submit them to our script supplier. The order will arrive about 3 days of being placed.
The gift cards will be distributed by Jennifer Aguillard and Anne Hughs.
